Cape Farewell and Farewell Spit

I dared the weather gods and planned a trip to Cape Farewell and Farewell Spit, the northernmost tip of the South Island. That plan worked out until I reached the top of Takaka Hill. After waiting for some minutes for the clouds to clear away, I had a beautiful view of Golden Bay from the Hawkes Lookout. From then on, it got wetter and wetter. I passed through the Takaka Valley to Collingwood and further on to the start of the Farewell Spit Walk. However, I abandoned the idea of going on that walk or on the Puponga Hilltop Walk to Wharariki Beach and on to Cape Farewell. So I turned around and headed for Nelson once more.
