Day 26 – Sunday, September 15

There is so much more to see of the North Island. However, the weather was turning colder and wetter. Thus, today my plans included a visit to the Kauri Museum. I wanted to know more about the pioneering time of the late 19th and early 20th centuries of New Zealand and how the Kauri tree played a pivotal role in it. Although a veritable tourist attraction (with a large gift shop at the end of the tour!), the museum is entertaining and highly informative.

On the Waipu Coastal Walkway

Because the weather report for the following day had lots of rain in stock, the dry, late afternoon leant itself to another short hike. I went on the Waipu Coastal Walkway to the Pancake Rocks and a bit beyond. Bream Bay boasted a magnificent panorama of Bream Head and the islands in the distance, Taranga and Marotere.

P.S.: To get to the walkway, I had to wade through water. Erika was right, I needn’t have cleaned my boots. Thanks for the bristle brush anyway!

Wow,!
    DANKE
    Herzliche Grüsse aus der Schweiz
