It was perfect weather for a cruise. Thus, for four hours, I accompanied the mailman on his mail run to places in the sound that are only reachable by boat. We sailed through the Grove Arm and the Tory Channel of the Queen Charlotte Sound, through Resolution Bay and Endeavour Inlet, stopped at Lazy Fish, Fumeaux Lodge and Punga Cove (two stations along the Queen Charlotte Hiking Track), the last operating agricultural farm in the sound, came past salmon and mussel farms, and an old whaling station. We encountered sea birds of all kinds – gannets, shags, Silver Gulls, Shearwater birds – and, on the last leg of the run, a pod of playful dolphins. It was an unforgettable adventure.
